TaskRatchet
TaskRatchet for Beeminder
Beemind your TaskRatchet tasks
Beeminder and TaskRatchet are complementary commitment devices. Beeminder keeps you consistent on open-ended goals; TaskRatchet puts a deadline on a single task. Connect them and every task you create or complete posts a datapoint to your Beeminder goal, so the one-off things you get done add up to steady progress on the graph.

How the Beeminder integration works
Connect your Beeminder account
From your TaskRatchet settings, click "Enable Beeminder integration" and authorize TaskRatchet on Beeminder. You'll be sent back to your settings, connected.
Pick a default goal
Enter the Beeminder goal you want your tasks to feed, then save. From then on, every task you add posts a datapoint of 1 to that goal.
Route specific tasks with tags
Add &goal to a task name to post to that goal when the task is created, or *goal to post when you complete it, so the right goals get fed without changing your default.
Why connect Beeminder?
Turn one-off tasks into steady progress
Beeminder commitments are open-ended; TaskRatchet tasks are one-offs. Feeding your tasks into a goal turns everyday to-dos into the consistent datapoints that keep your Beeminder graph from derailing.
Per-task goal routing
Use &goal and *goal tags right in the task name to send specific tasks to specific goals, on creation or on completion, without touching your settings.
Automatic datapoints with context
TaskRatchet posts the datapoints for you, and each one's comment carries the task's deadline and stake, so your Beeminder history tells you exactly what each point was for.
New to TaskRatchet?
TaskRatchet is a todo list with teeth. You set a deadline and stake real money on each task. Finish on time, or you pay the amount you chose. It's built for procrastinators who need a stronger incentive than yet another notification.

Does this add a money stake to my Beeminder goal?
No. Your Beeminder goal keeps its own pledge, and TaskRatchet doesn't change it. The integration just feeds the goal datapoints from your TaskRatchet activity. (Putting a stake on an individual TaskRatchet task is a separate, optional TaskRatchet feature.)
Which direction does the data flow?
One way: TaskRatchet posts datapoints to Beeminder. It writes to the goals you specify; it doesn't change your tasks based on Beeminder data.
Do I have to tag every task?
No. Set a default goal and every new task posts there automatically. Tags (&goal and *goal) are only for routing specific tasks to other goals.
What's the difference between &goal and *goal?
&goal posts a datapoint when the task is created; *goal posts a datapoint when you complete the task. You can use either or both.
Ready to put Beeminder to work?
Automatically post a datapoint to your Beeminder goals whenever you create or complete a TaskRatchet task.
